Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: An attempted cover-up

Not everything for Game of Thrones season 8 has come to an end quite yet, especially not when it comes to the last big setpiece.

Even though Game of Thrones production has apparently already called in people like Jason Momoa to say good-bye to the show, that doesn’t seem to mean that things have completely wrapped up.

Instead, there are new photos from A Red Priestess, once again centered around the King’s Landing set in Belfast.

Let’s get right down to it:

It seems like someone does pay rather close attention to the spoilers floating around on Twitter. After all, Red Priestess actually posted the original photo that showed what seems to be a dragon (or what will become a dragon through the magic of technology) hanging around the set.

But the interesting bit here is the smoke, of course. It’s quite concentrated, so it could be for a specific close-up shot. We don’t know who could be involved in it, or even if any of the main characters themselves are involved. It could just be some extras running and screaming as the city burns. Others could welcome the invasion so that they don’t have to live under Cersei’s rule any longer.

There was also a post from a fellow Game of Thrones spoiler that A Red Priestess weighed in on:

In the replies, Joe Weaver claims that it’s “either Cersei or Jaime maybe even both [sic],” and if we had to pick one, we’d lay the better odds on Cersei. The show seems to be winding up to get rid of her. No one lasts on the Iron Throne long when they do it on-camera in Game of Thrones. (Even Robert Baratheon spends most of his reign off-screen, and when he does show up, he dies within the same season.)
