Though we knew Wonder Woman 2 was going to be set in the ’80s, a new clue reveals a specific year for the sequel.

Wonder Woman 2 has had a lot of interesting rumors going around. It was rumored that they had begun filming the sequel in Virginia in May. Then Warner Brothers purchased quite a few domain names that hinted at a specific time period for the movie — the 1980s.

Now, a visual clue reveals the film could be set in 1984 specifically. Or at least, that’s what we’re theorizing. Director Patty Jenkins and Geoff Johns, president and chief creative officer of DC Entertainment, changed their social media to reflect a static image with “WW84” written on it.

Does this mean that the movie is, for sure, set in 1984? It hasn’t been confirmed but mixed with previous rumors, it makes sense. If so, this means the movie would take place during a pretty interesting year. 1984 would put Diana Prince in the heart of the Cold War. Will historic events like Discovery’s first launch or the Winter Olympics, or even the 1984 election? Even if these play on in the background, we’re up for some ’80s historical throwbacks.

If the 1980s rumor can be solidified, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that rumors of Steve Trevor returning are true too. Chris Pine hasn’t been fully spotted on set yet, but filming has only just begun.
