Chrissy Metz: This Is Me: Loving the Person You Are Today

While Metz also writes about the challenges that she’s faced personally, the This Is Us actress is earning rave reviews for helping others to heal.

Carrie Fisher: The Princess Diarist

Although fans tend to associate Carrie Fisher with Star Wars, this celebrity author penned enough volumes to earn her own shelf on your bookcase. Carrie began her writing career in 1987 with Postcards from the Edge. From there, Fisher experimented with romance novel writing in Surrender the Pink, then gradually moved from semi-autobiographical into memoir writing with Wishful Drinking and The Princess Diarist.

Chris Colfer: The Land of Stories

Sing out for Glee star Chris Colfer’s soaring success in the world of celebrities who have written books. Colfer’s The Land of Stories was so successful that Chris has created a fan compendium, Ultimate Book Hugger’s Guide, set to be published this autumn. The new guide will take readers behind the scenes of his books, including sketches by the actor/author. Want more? Colfer will provide it in his upcoming plan to write a film based on his stunningly successful books. Now that’s something to be Glee-ful about.

Tyra Banks: Perfect Is Boring

Ultimate top model Tyra Banks used to quote her mother to her wannabe models. For those curious about exactly what Tyra learned from her parent, this celebrity author dishes up the scoop in her new book, Perfect is Boring: 10 Things My Crazy, Fierce Mama Taught Me About Beauty, Booty and Being a Boss. Banks’ mother, Carolyn London, collaborated with her famous model daughter to pen the book, which includes advice as well as a look back at Tyra’s tempestuous teenage years. Carolyn told Today about her goals in helping Banks grow up beautiful within and without.

"As women, we all experience (body shame) in one way, shape or form. A lot of what I did was instill in [my daughter Tyra Banks] things that were much more important than [her] physical being — I tried to work really hard on the inner Tyra and to get her to focus on the great qualities that she had."

Britney Spears: A Mother’s Gift

You know Britney Spears as a singer, dancer and actress — but as a celebrity book author? In 2003, Britney teamed up with her mother, Lynne Spears, to pen this novel. A Mother’s Gift describes how a 14-year-old teenager who can sing (sound familiar?) finds success through a performing arts education. But can this fictional teen survive without her mom? This novel also provided a plot for a TV film that the duo produced together.
