A hasty follow-up set of comments from one of the Russo brothers has us wondering if an Avengers 4 plot point accidentally slipped out.
If you still haven’t seen Avengers: Infinity War, then consider yourself warned that spoilers are on the way.
Something seems a little suspicious about what the Russo brothers are now saying about young Gamora’s final appearance in Avengers: Infinity War. Apparently, it’s only a “spiritual representation” instead of her actually being part of the Soul Stone. At least, that’s what they want us to think right now.
In other words, while both interpretations seem perfectly valid, the fact that one’s been offered and then hastily corrected seems suspect. Call us conspiracy theorists, but they may have realized that that’s not something that should get confirmed not long after the film’s release.
Additionally, it doesn’t seem as though a “spiritual representation” and “Gamora’s soul is in the Soul Stone” are actually mutually exclusive. Indeed, even the comments that places like Uproxx and ComicBook are using to say that it’s wrong don’t seem to have picked up on that nuance.
Sure, the Russos apparently said the original confirmation was a “misinterpretation,” but something still doesn’t seem right. It doesn’t seem as though Gamora can’t be in the Soul Stone, reminding Thanos of his sacrifice whenever he exerts the power of the Infinity Gauntlet.
Ultimately, the Russos know more about Avengers 4 than pretty much anyone on the planet (aside from Kevin Feige and other Marvel executives). But their clarification on this point makes us suspect they may have accidentally let something slip that they didn’t mean to let slip at this stage of the game.
Whatever’s going on with Avengers 4, which still doesn’t have a title, we can’t wait to see the movie next year.
Next: Tom Holland didn't know about THAT scene in Infinity War until he filmed it
Seriously … why not drop it over the holidays, Marvel? We don’t think anyone would complain too much.
