On this week’s episode of The 100, fans will be returning to the conflicts happening above ground. While Clarke is captured by the convicts from the prison carrier, Bellamy and the others begin their journey back to Earth.

Fans of The 100 spent the majority of last week’s episode learning how things have unfolded in the underground bunker. During this week’s episode, we’ll be thrown back into the action happening above ground. And it looks like we’ll be returning to the present timeline too.

The official synopsis of “Sleeping Giants” suggests that the episode will center mostly on Bellamy and Clarke:

"Bellamy leads the charge investigating a potential way home. Meanwhile, Clarke and Madi deal with the new, uncertain threat to their home."

But while we’re excited to see Bellamy and his friends return to the ground, the preview alludes to a rocky descent for our characters. You can watch it here:

The preview opens with a shot of the Ark and a statement from Raven: “I promised myself I would find a way to get us back down. This is it.”

The trailer doesn’t offer the specifics of her plans, but it does later show a pod dropping from a larger ship.

Whatever their plan is, there’s also a chilling line from the preview that implies that one of the crew will need to stay behind. That’s a pretty significant sacrifice to make, especially given that the Ark may not be livable long-term.

That Harper and Monty would part from one another seems unlikely, and we all know Bellamy’s heading back to Earth. Given their relationship, Echo will probably follow him. That leaves Raven, Murphy, and Emori as possible contenders. Whoever stays, we hope they find some other way of getting back to Earth.

Several clips from the preview also reveal some serious problems in store for Clarke and Madi. The Eligius prisoners appear to take Clarke captive, and it doesn’t look like they have any reservations about torturing her while they wait for “her people” to come save her.

With Octavia and Wonkru still underground, and Bellamy in space, we’re not sure who they’re expecting to come for her. Unless she finally manages to get a message through to the Ark, Madi’s the only one who can save Clarke. Let’s hope she has more traps up her sleeve.
