May’s free PlayStation Plus games include Beyond: Two Souls and Rayman Legends for the PS4, with King Oddball as a cross-platform title.

Quantic Dream’s highly anticipated Detroit: Become Human comes out later this month, but if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you can play their 2013 hit Beyond: Two Souls now. Also available for PS4 is Ubisoft’s platformer Rayman Legends. For PlayStation 3, Risen 3: Titan Lords and Eat Them! are available. On PS Vita, a Furmins bundle containing the full game and a bonus world is free. Lastly, King Oddball by 10tons Ltd. is available on PS4, PS3, and PS Vita.

Beyond: Two Souls

This interactive drama game stars Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe, their likenesses captured via motion capture in addition to typical voice-acting. You play as Jodie who has a psychic link to an incorporeal being called Aiden, who you can also control. Like Quantic Dream’s earlier game, Heavy Rain, the choices you make change the outcome of individual scenes and the final ending. Reviews were mixed mainly due to the unique gameplay, which many criticised to be too passive. However, the game is worth checking out for the excellent acting, graphics, and music, and the fact that it is one of two games ever to premiere at a film festival.

Rayman Legends

The fifth title in the Rayman series and another 2013 original release game, Rayman Legends received critical acclaim as an excellent addition to the platforming genre. The story takes place one hundred years after Rayman Origins and nightmares have spread throughout the Glade of Dreams taking on forms like dragons and sea monsters. With over 120 levels, local co-op, challenge stages, and more, Rayman Legends offers a nice contrast to Beyond: Two Souls.

Risen 3: Titan Lords

This RPG by Deep Silver might have gotten mixed reviews, but if you like the series or open-world gameplay this PS3 title is worth a look. You’ll be able to explore, align with one of three guilds, complete quests that have multiple outcomes, and fight back against the Shadows that are taking over the world.

Eat Them!

Similar to the classic game Rampage, Eat Them! by FluffyLogic is a cel-shaded game that lets you build your own monster and then destroy a city. While criticized for lack of gameplay variation and difficulty of the game, the visual style and attention to details were praised.

Furmins

Furmins by Beatshapers Ltd. is a physics puzzle game that has over 100 levels and utilized the Vita’s touch controls. Gameplay is in two phases, setup, and action. During setup, you’ll place various items that when activated in action mode hopefully move all the Furmins to a basket.

King Oddball

The cross-platform game of the month is King Oddball by 10tons Ltd. With an Angry Birds style game-play, you play as King Oddball and use his tongue to hurl boulders at environments and enemies through 120 different levels.
