Episode III: Darth Vader is made

As we all know, Obi-Wan is ultimately unsuccessful in killing his mentee. Unable to make the killing blow, he injures Anakin and leaves him for dead. How could the boy possibly survive after losing his limbs and being engulfed by lava? Apparently, Obi-Wan didn’t count on Palpatine showing up to rescue his newly recruited prodigy.

At the very end of Revenge of the Sith, the filmmakers show us Anakin’s transition into the infamous Darth Vader. It’s a powerful scene, in which viewers see how gruesome his burns and other injuries are. When the mask is placed onto his face and we hear Vader’s iconic breathing, the villain we love is born. And he loses the final piece of his humanity when Palpatine tells him he killed Padmé in his anger, a statement viewers know isn’t entirely true.

Episode VII: Rey and Finn steal the Millennium Falcon

When the First Order follows Finn and BB-8 to Jakku, things get hairy for the group. Poor Rey gets wrapped up in it all, and she and Finn wind up dodging the Order’s explosive attacks. The TIE fighters close in on them, and they decide to steal a ship we all recognize and love: the Millennium Falcon.

Seeing the Falcon again is enough of a reason this scene makes fans giddy with joy, but watching our newbies fly it is entertaining and satisfying. And when Han Solo and Chewie arrive aboard it once more? Well, that’s another beautiful moment deserving of a shout-out on this list.
