The Winter of the Witch – Katherine Arden

After receiving a ton of positive feedback for both The Bear and the Nightingale and The Girl in the Tower, Katherine Arden is finally wrapping up her Winternight Trilogy. Ironically, the final book, The Winter of the Witch will be released this summer. I suppose the wintry Russian setting could be a nice getaway by the time August rolls around.

The synopsis of Arden’s finale is short and to the point, at least on Goodreads:

"In the stunning conclusion to the bestselling Winternight Trilogy, following The Bear and the Nightingale and The Girl in the Tower, Vasya returns to save Russia and the spirit realm, battling enemies both mortal and magic."

It sounds as though Vasya has her work cut out for her in the third book of the series. With enemies on all sides, she’ll likely have to make some difficult choices and sacrifices to save the day. And there’s nothing better for a summer binge than an epic battle with dangerously high stakes.

The Winter of the Witch is due out on August 14. If you’ve yet to start the series, now is the perfect time to begin. You’ve got almost four months to catch up (and start theorizing about the conclusion).
