The Death of Mrs. Westaway – Ruth Ware

Ruth Ware has been averaging a thriller a year, and 2018 is no exception to the rule. Her forthcoming novel, The Death of Mrs. Westawayis said to be on par with her previous three releases. If that’s the case, it’ll be worth picking up, especially for fans of In A Dark, Dark Wood and The Woman in Cabin 10.

According to Goodreads,The Death of Mrs. Westaway opens with our protagonist receiving a letter leaving her an inheritance. Though the letter was incorrectly addressed to Hal, she devises a plan to utilize her tarot reading skills in an effort to claim the money anyway.

Poor Hal should have realized such plans are definitely inadvisable, but the flaws present themselves to her only after she finds herself in the midst of things. After attending the funeral of the deceased, it becomes clear the entire situation is off. As with most thrillers, it’s also too late to back out at that point.

Ware’s new book comes out on May 29. Even though it’s way before Halloween season, thrillers like this still make great summer reads. They’re fast-paced and entertaining, which is really all you can ask for in a beach book.
