Watch Elastigirl take the lead in the newest Incredibles 2 trailer

The Incredibles are getting a bit of a role reversal in the movie’s latest trailer. This time, Helen is the head superhero in charge while Bob adjusts to being a stay-at-home dad.

If she wasn’t already, Elastigirl is about to become one of the greatest female superheroes of all time. It’s clear in the newest trailer for the Incredibles 2 that they’re really letting her take the lead on this one.

We get a glimpse into the life of the Incredibles following their encounter with Syndrome in the trailer, and superheroes are back in fashion. The heroes, including Frozone, are introduced to Winston Deavor (voiced by Bob Odenkirk), who has a master plan to give superheroes a better image in society. (Nothing could possibly go wrong, right?) And to do that, he chooses Elastigirl over Mr. Incredible to be the face of the campaign.

That leads Elastigirl, or Helen, to be out kicking butt while her husband Bob is left to care for Dash, Violet and the wildly rambunctious Jack-Jack at home.

Speaking of Jack-Jack, we get to see more of the tiny tot’s abilities as the family discovers that he has superpowers just like them. He was a scene stealer in the last movie, giving his babysitter one hard time, and he’s sure to be a delightful character in the sequel. Even though he’s just a baby, maybe Jack-Jack’s abilities will come in handy when the family least expects it.

But back to Elastigirl. The timing is right for her to take the lead in this movie and to be a great role for the aspiring Elastigirls out there. We have strong female lead characters in movies now like Rey in Star Wars and, of course, Wonder Woman, whose movie completely dominated the box office. Elastigirl, I’m sure, will be another strong character to lead the movie industry in this new direction.
