Anne Hathaway shuts down body shamers on Instagram
Anne Hathaway is gaining weight for an upcoming role and shutting down the haters before they even comment on her pictures.
Anne Hathaway is sending a message to all her fans and haters — leave the body shaming behind. The Princess Diaries actress is following in Mia Thermopolis’ footsteps, owning her looks and not caring what people think.
On her Instagram, Hathaway shared an impressive video of her working out to let people know she will be gaining weight for an upcoming role. The caption said, “I am gaining weight for a movie role and it is going well. To all the people who are going to fat shame me in the upcoming months, it’s not me, it’s you. Peace xx PS- I wanted to set this to Queen’s “Fat Bottomed Girls” but copyright said no. Continued peace xx.”
This outspoken attitude Hathaway has towards body image is not new. In 2016, she spoke out about body image and how new mothers are under pressure to lose body weight.
Her post from 2016 reads:
"There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever). There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all). There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer’s are just too dang short for this summer’s thighs. Bodies change, bodies grow, bodies shrink. It’s all love (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.)."
Celebrities are always obsessed with their weight and outward appearance. Anne Hathaway reminds us that celebrities, shockingly, are people who are going to age, lose and gain weight, like anybody else. She is an amazing actress as well as an awesome role model for women of all ages.

It is sad that Hathaway even needs to address her upcoming weight to the masses. But she shut down haters before it even began with grace and a bit of fun. Major props sent your way Anne Hathaway!
