John Legend really did serve us one good looking Jesus

Every week we praise our Man Crush Monday. Is it a surprise that this week, we’re all about John Legend playing Jesus?

Look, this Man Crush Monday should be an easy one ladies. We watched him rep Jesus and as always, we’re in love with his singing voice. That’s right, we’re talking about John Legend. On Easter Sunday, John took to the stage to bring Jesus Christ Superstar to life.

The show, which is literally the story of the crucifixion of Jesus, was obviously chosen because, you know, it was Easter. If you’re like me, you probably know two, maybe three, songs from the show.

It is popular in theatre circles but paired up against a show like Godspell, there is clearly a fan favorite. (Hint: it isn’t Jesus Christ Superstar.) That being said, the show was pretty enjoyable.

Watching as Sara Bareilles sang “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” showed everyone why this musical has a large fan following. Still, there were aspects of the story they couldn’t exactly show on live television on Easter Sunday. (The suicide of Judas comes to mind.)

All that being said, it was a little conflicting. As we were watching the show, we couldn’t help but find ourselves attracted to John Legend. Who was playing Jesus. So, it’s weird.

Never in my life did I think I’d be attracted to Jesus but Broadway keeps giving us beautiful boys playing the savior so I guess never say never, right?

Next: One Day at a Time’s Todd Grinnell is not Paul Rudd, but he’s still super cute

You can now see Jesus Christ Superstar on demand through NBC. It is a hyper-specific show and one that you’ll either love or hate (there really isn’t any middle ground). Still, it is quite the show to watch, especially with John Legend as Jesus!
