Drew Barrymore reveals if she and Adam Sandler would return for another movie

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore haven’t worked together since Blended in 2014. They’re talking about a new movie idea, and we cant be more excited.

Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler have created some of the best romantic comedies out there. From The Wedding Singer to 50 First Dates, these two have made us laugh and fall in love at the same time for years. Barrymore and Sandler are the perfect match for movies because they’re just so relatable.

Everyone is waiting for their next movie and they are always looking for ideas. Wednesday on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Drew Barrymore discussed what she thinks about another rom-com with the great Bobby Boucher (who doesn’t love The Water Boy?).

Barrymore joked, “Adam and I text all the time about our next thing, and we’re like, ‘We’re so fat. We’re so old. What the [explitive]?’ Like, literally, the last thing I suggested to him was like ‘On Golden Pond question mark.'”

Her Santa Clarita Diet co-star Timothy Olyphant loves that idea. He laughs, “I would watch the two of you in an On Golden Pond remake in a heartbeat- that would be amazing!”

Barrymore discussed if an E.T. sequel would ever happen, and she said no because Steven Spielberg crushed that dream years ago.

She explained, “He never wanted to make them because he felt like what he did was just as it should be. I remember being 7 and staying at his house for the weekend—he was a ‘godfather’ to me—and he said, ‘No, we’re never going to make a sequel. It’s just as it is.’ And that was his philosophy, so who was I to ever question it?”

Personally, I don’t think an E.T. sequel is needed, but what about a 50 First Dates sequel? I LOVE Lucy and Henry’s dynamic and want to see more.  They had a kid, Nicole, which would be a great angle for them to use. A teenage daughter growing up with a mom who doesn’t remember anything? Hilarious antics will ensue when she tries to have a boyfriend! I’d pay big money to see that.
