We love the crusade Amandla Stenberg leads in the Darkest Minds trailer
The new Darkest Minds trailer was released and it shows an amazing revolt led by Ruby. Will Ruby and the rebellion defeat the government and become free?
Have you ever thought about what would happen if all the children in American disappeared from existence? If you have, then you’re probably a fan of the young adult books series The Darkest Minds.
Darkest Minds is being released as a movie starring Amandla Stenberg, and they released a powerful trailer on Wednesday.
The story follow’s the story of a special 16-year-old girl named Ruby (Amandla Stenberg) after a disease kills 98 percent of America’s children. As a result of the disease, the two percent left behind develop different abilities that the government wants to contain.
To do so, they put the remaining kids in internment camps, which is like a prison. Eventually, Ruby escapes the camp and joins a group of kids like her and creates a rebellion against the government.
The trailer starts by showing an ominous street sign that says, “children at risk.” It shows what looks like an apocalyptic world with camps to keep these kids contained.
They study their powers and learn how to use them for themselves. While it’s dangerous, and the government has the control, Ruby, and everyone a part of the resistance fight for their freedom and what they believe in. Ruby says, “I will fight for all of us,” while she takes down a plane with her powers.
This is a serious theme that’s in many movies over the years and needs to be in more. X-Men was one of the first that gives a deeper look into acceptance of others. Even The Hunger Games and Divergent’s entire premise is about fighting against the government and standing up for what you believe in no matter the cost.
Teenagers breaking free from the mold that adults have created for them need to happen now more than ever. Darkest Minds is doing something bigger than making a film. It’s helping the younger generation to realize they don’t have to follow in everyone’s footsteps — they need to make their own path and do what’s right.
I think that Amandla Stenberg is the perfect choice to play Ruby and lead this revolution. She has shown her amazing acting chops in The Hunger Games and As You Are. Amandla Stenberg has the fire in her heart to do an amazing job at bringing Ruby to life.
