Wonder Woman

When Wonder Woman came out in the summer of 2017, girls everywhere felt powerful for maybe the first time. The best tweet from the film came when someone exclaimed that the emotions we felt after Wonder Woman must be what white men feel like after every superhero movie.

It is a sentiment that many women shared, and watching Diana Prince cross No Man’s Land is still one of the most inspirational things to come across our screens. Maybe it is because we never saw something like that before, or maybe it’s because Patty Jenkins made an incredible movie, but seeing Diana take on a god and win was something that cannot be paralleled.

For years, we watched male superheroes defeat the villains and come out successful, and, as female fans, we cheered and were excited. But this was the first time that we got to see a woman saving the world all on her own, and it was inspirational.

Now, Diana Prince has been around for quite some time and while she is continually compared to Captain America, she is her own hero who inspired countless generations of girls to go out there and be the best we can be. So we owe a lot to Diana Prince and the Amazons from Themyscria.
