Captain Marvel

If you haven’t read the comics, you probably know very little about Carol Danvers, but women everywhere are excited to finally have a movie focused on Captain Marvel. Throughout the last ten years, Marvel has gotten a lot of flack for its lack of female-led superhero movies. It seems as if the next wave is the beginning of a change, and we’re seeing that with Captain Marvel.

A woman in the Air Force, Carol becomes a superhero, and truly, there is nothing about her that isn’t awesome. That isn’t exactly surprising, because Marvel does a great job at creating characters we fall in love with. It’s just a shame that it has waited this long to give us a female-led hero movie when they’ve had both Black Widow and Scarlet Witch as part of the cinematic universe for quite some time.

The change that is coming with the release of Captain Marvel is going to give young girls everywhere the same feeling Wonder Woman and Black Panther did. We got to see women at the forefront, fighting alongside men and taking on the villains without being seen as weak.

So the hope is that Captain Marvel continues the trend, and, if it is true to Carol Danvers, I don’t think we have anything to worry about.
