The Hilltop is in danger from the Saviors, but Maggie’s taking a strong stand for her people. What’s to come from this battle? We’ll find out tonight.

In a sneak peek of tonight’s episode, Maggie and Simon share tense words over the radio. Simon lets Maggie know he’s in charge (for now), and that trouble is coming to Hilltop. But the Widow shows no fear.

“Your 38 people are alive and breathing,” Maggie tells Simon. “Turn around, leave us be, and they stay that way. But if you don’t, I have 38 bullets that I will personally fire into all 38.”

Damn Maggie — someone is finally taking their leadership up a notch. Not to say we want Maggie to turn into something dark and twisty, but this is a side we rarely see from her.

In another teaser for tonight, its clear a battle is coming to Hilltop. Carol warns that “winning just means we get tomorrow,” hinting that this isn’t going to be a one and done event with the Saviors. Maggie and the Hilltop watch as the Saviors’ truck caravan comes towards them.

AMC’s synopsis doesn’t offer anything hopeful, adding that with the battle there will be “heartbreaking discoveries.”

"Trouble arises when unexpected visitors arrive at the Hilltop and the community is thrust into action; heartbreaking discoveries are made."

This unfortunately sounds like there will be some kind of betrayal or character death in tonight’s episode, titled Do Not Send Us Astray. Will one of our leaders — Maggie, Ezekiel, Rick — meet their end? With three more episodes to the finale, its doubtful they’d be picked off but then again we never know with this show.
