America Ferrera — “Conga”

It’s a good day when any members of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants are reunited. It’s a great day when they compete together in a lip sync battle.

In 2016, the show had America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn battle for the belt, and sadly neither of them wore the pants. But magic still happened on the stage. Lip syncing to Miami Sound Machine’s “Conga,” Ferrera was basically a real version of the dancer emoji, right down to the red dress.

She came in hot, starting her performance with three subsequent crash zooms. Quentin Tarantino can vouch: those crash zooms immediately amp up the energy. And high energy is exactly what’s needed to take on “Conga.”

Enter the big brass band. Whether or not they were actually playing is debatable, but what matters is that it looked cool. Even Amber Tamblyn had give credit in the form of a triple “Alright!”

Granted, the show is called Lip Sync Battle, but hitting every word cleanly on “Conga” is an impressive feat. (I’ve been trying since elementary school. Maybe one day). Not only did Ferrera nail that aspect, she also had dancing on top of it. The choreography on the show is generally impressive to begin with, but this was true art.
