Gina Rodriguez — “Free Your Mind”
It’s no secret that Gina Rodriguez is about as fierce as they come. She’s about to be playing Carmen Sandiego after all. Standing at 5′ 3″ Rodriguez is small but mighty — her LSB performance emphasizing the mighty part.
In real life, Rodriguez is known for being vocal about social issues, particularly inequality. So it’s only fitting that she went with En Vogue’s “Free Your Mind” for her showstopper. It’s a number she was born to perform.
The performance honestly makes you want to just strut down the street for the rest of the day — which is probably something Rodriguez would support.
She recreated the original outfits of the song, nailed the attitude, and sucked everyone in. But the standout moment of the performance is when she brought in a guitar. After a few quick air strums, she smashed it to bits. It startled Chrissy Teigen, but let’s get honest: smashing a guitar is everyone’s rockstar fantasy.
She took on Wilmer Valderrama in the battle, and he put up a good fight. He rocked the Backstreet Boys and Ricky Martin, but it was no match for the legend that is Gina Rodriguez. Fortunately, she was a gracious winner, and the two remain good friends.
