See who stayed sweet and who got crushed on Project Runway All Stars season 6 episode 11
Project Runway All Stars Season 6 episode 11 features resort wear based on the app Candy Crush. But, did any designer crush it?
With only five designers left on Project Runway All Stars, the designers really need to impress the judges. Drab colors, repetitive designs and uninspired looks will get the judges’ wrath. On Project Runway All Stars season 6 episode 11, the designers seemed to have gotten crushed by their latest challenge.

This week’s Project Runway All Stars featured resort wear. As everyone thinks about a relaxing vacation, resort wear has a luxurious ease. Whether someone goes to the beach, mountains or a safari, the clothes need to impress. While a fashionable person wants a good design, they don’t want to wear overly fussy clothes while on vacation.
Since the resort is as much a state of mind as it is a location, the look needs to convey that resort ease. Ease doesn’t mean frumpy nor does it mean a huge tent. Throw into the mix the Candy Crush lands as inspiration, and the designers could be crushed by the judges’ critiques.
Even before the resort wear looks hit the runway, the designers’ looks had a lot of similarities. Three designers had pants paired with a flowy top or dress. While these designers tried to impress with carefully tailored pants, the similarities created instant comparisons.
Anthony’s look was inspired by a safari. While safari clothes are often muted khaki or neutrals, we have to remember, this challenge was inspired by Candy Crush. His all-white look had no color but still referenced the game through the eyelet fabric. He took a risk, but it didn’t pay off enough.

The problem with Anthony’s look was that it was just blah. There wasn’t innovation, inspiration or any type of newness. It was nice, but nice can get a designer eliminated at this point in the competition. The design lacked a runway impact. Anthony was a bottom designer.
Fabio’s look had drama. The color combination was a smart design choice. The three-color choice was bold, yet not overly dramatic. The biggest issue with his look was that the front was too heavy. All the long, hanging fabric seemed to pull his model forward.

While the back of Fabio’s design was breathtaking, he had some issues overall. Still, Fabio tried to push his design style forward. The willingness to push the envelope would be rewarded by the judges. Designs that are boring will get a designer sent home. Fabio had a top look.
Stanley’s design was pretty, but it had so many pieces. The white pants with green hem would have been stunning with just a flowy blouse. The dress, with its dramatic sleeves, could have been fine on its own. The tie back scarf could have been eliminated entirely.

Overall, the design was nice, but it didn’t have the resort wear ease. Too many pieces made the look too fussy. Still, Stanley tried something new. The willingness to experiment is going to be rewarded by the judges. Although he didn’t win, Stanley was safe.
Ken’s bright yellow design had a huge runway impact. The jumpsuit with sarong was chic yet effortless. While some judges would have preferred a removable sarong, everyone agreed that the look was stunning coming down the runway. He completely hit the mark for an elegant Hamptons party.

With his bold use of color, Ken was easily a top design. While the fabric could have been a little heavy, the design was smart and completely worked as resort wear. Anyone would be thrilled to wear this stunning design.
Ken won this week’s challenge. It was his first single win. Even with the similarities between the designers’ looks, Ken’s was easily a top choice.
Edmond was the other bottom designer. Left with the final resort, mountain ski resort, Edmond was confused. Even though he had never been skiing, he could have come up with a better design. His look appeared more like a wetsuit than a ski resort look. Fro the color to the fur add-on, his design just looked out of place.

This style of resort wear needed to be ski bunny-esque. Given the Candy Crush challenge, Edmond had so many possibilities. Just thinking of Aspen, Vail or even Lake Tahoe, the possibilities were endless. Who hasn’t seen a movie or opened a magazine and seen a fabulous apres ski outfit on a fashionable person? Edmond’s look was just strange. Comfort and function can see be stylish.
The designer sent home on Project Runway All Stars Season 6 episode 11 was Edmond. His ski resort wear look was just too boring, lacked innovation and didn’t have the resort wear ease. No fashionable woman would want to wear that outfit on her next ski vacation.

Even though Edmond won last week’s challenge, he couldn’t build on that momentum. Based on previous Project Runway All Stars episodes this season, it was a good bet that Edmond was going to go home this week. Just like Merline’s and Joshua’s departures, Edmond’s departure was expected. He didn’t have any other tricks in his sewing kit.

With only a few more episodes left in Project Runway All Stars Season 6, any of the four remaining designers could win. There doesn’t seem to be momentum or a clear favorite. The judges change the favorite designer each week. Just when it seems one designer is on top, they fall to the chopping block.

As the Project Runway All Stars designers jet off to Washington D.C. for the next challenge, the challenge itself may not have the big impact on who makes it to the finals. The additional judge and their preferences will be the biggest factor. The three regular judges seem fickle. Granted, one day you’re in and the next day you’re out, but this judging panel seems to keep changing the rules.
The only issues that keep being rewarded this season are the ones that push the envelope. Designs that have been done before aren’t getting a pass. It might all come down to innovation versus classic.
