Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: A starry theory

The director of Solo: A Star Wars Story may have inadvertently confirmed some Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers, which makes for a good crossover.

Warning: While this may only be confirmation of some already-suspected knowledge, it doesn’t mean that it’s not an example of Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers.

When you’re one of the faces of Game of Thrones, it probably makes it a little easier to snag roles in other major media franchises. We’re talking, of course, about Emilia Clarke and Star Wars. (Of course, we could be talking about Peter Dinklage and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, since he’s reportedly in Avengers: Infinity War.)

The movie’s only about two months away, so it’s about time to start really promoting it. However, it seems as though Clarke herself couldn’t attend the event.

And r/freefolk, as it is wont to do, collected the relevant comments and made the obvious conclusion. In other words, that sneaking suspicion that we had seen Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen filming earlier this week at Magheramorne may very well prove correct:

"I’m guessing this means Emilia’s too busy filming GOT currently to do promotion for her movie from freefolk"

Howard’s comment in particular, which asks about “#TheKhaleesi” not being able to take a break, seems like pretty conclusive evidence that Clarke can’t attend because of filming Game of Thrones season 8. What will be more telling is what happens when the press tour really kicks off, probably around mid-April before really ramping up at the start of May so as not to pull too much attention away from Avengers: Infinity War. (That’s probably not really possible, but it at least sounds reasonable, right?)

If she doesn’t appear much until the very biggest events like the American premiere, then we know that she’s playing a major role in Game of Thrones instead. We’ll just have to see if she gives a lot of press interviews — and how many people ask about the show rather than the movie.
