Sneaky Pete — Amazon

What it is: Sneaky Pete is an Amazon Original starring Giovanni Ribisi, and it will keep you riveted to your TV until the very last episode. Ribisi plays Marius, a convict who needs a new start after his impending release. Once he’s out, he assumes the identity of a cellmate, Pete, returning to Pete’s hometown and family pretending to be the still-incarcerated long lost cousin.

At first, Pete thinks he’s returning to a sleepy town with a regular American family. However, pretty soon, his past begins to creep up on him, and he learns that his new family might not be as average as he first thought. Along the way, he develops warm feelings for his pretend grandmother (the wonderful and majestic Margo Martindale).  The closer he gets to the family, the harder it is to maintain his secret, especially as people from his shady past continue to turn up in this made up future.

Why you’ll like it: It’s got as much, if not more, complicated family drama than Game of Thrones ever did. You are constantly juggling your loyalty to the main character Pete/Marius while also having to reconcile all the terrible things he’s done and continues to do. If you think you’ve developed complex feelings for the characters of Game of Thrones, you haven’t seen anything yet.

As Pete starts to form relationships with his new “family,” things get even more dicey as his feelings for his “cousin” get a little more romantic than is comfortable. Pete is charming and mysterious and makes everybody want to get to know him better — including the audience. Produced and guest starring Bryan Cranston, Sneaky Pete is as dynamic as it is suspenseful.

Where to find it: You can watch all of seasons 1 and 2 on Amazon Prime.
