On this week’s Walking Dead, Rick and Negan may finally battle it out. But Negan could be in trouble, if certain Saviors aren’t there to back him up.
Could Negan be betrayed by Simon? Its a storyline that’s been slowly making its way through recent episodes of The Walking Dead, and a sneak peak may solidify it.
Simon is seen driving with Dwight, now back with the Saviors after throwing them off the Alexandrian’s trail. Its safe to say no one has figured out Dwight’s betrayal yet, as Simon openly chats with Dwight about what’s next in the big plan to take out the enemy.
Simon asks “top guy to top guy” if Dwight thinks they’ll actually be able to take out Rick and his loyal followers. Dwight notes he isn’t “paid to think.”
Simon acknowledges this, saying he himself isn’t trying to second-guess Negan’s plan. But, he kind of is. He gripes that Rick, the Widow, and the King don’t scare easy, and that’s a problem.
Simon’s already disobeyed Negan’s orders to simply take one of Jadis’ people out — instead taking down the entire community and leaving Jadis on her own. As Simon continues to question Negan’s authority, he could start to put doubt in the minds of other Saviors — leading to a potential revolt. Or he may just get whacked by Lucille.
AMC’s synopsis for the show gives us a major hint that Rick and Negan are going to meet up.
"Hilltop’s leadership faces a difficult dilemma after the arrival of unexpected visitors; Rick comes face to face with an adversary."
As for the Hilltop, could that difficult dilemma be the fact the Saviors are showing up with walker-tainted weapons? Not good. Not good.
