Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: Aren’t lions not native to the north?
It’s been a long, long time since a certain character has been to Winterfell, but new spoilers suggest Game of Thrones season 8 could change that.
Warning: Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers lie just beyond this point. Are you sure you want to continue?
The last time Jaime Lannister made it to Winterfell was at the very beginning of the entire show. You remember his iconic line, “The things I do for love”? Yeah, he might have a chance to actually one-up that line when it comes to being in Winterfell in Game of Thrones season 8.
This comes to us via r/freefolk and spoilers expert u/EveryFckingChicken, who originally saw the video on Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s Instagram.
The video has since been deleted from that page, but it’s very difficult to scrub something off the Internet completely. EveryFckingChicken has deduced that Coster-Waldau was probably on the road to Winterfell’s location in the real world, Moneyglass. That area has seen a lot of activity lately anyway, which lends some serious credence to this theory.
But our question is this: when does Jaime arrive at Winterfell? He’s riding alone through the countryside, and he probably can cover quite a bit of ground by himself. However, we know that the most recent filming activity at Winterfell seemed to be following the burning that seems to take place early in the season.
Is it possible that he’s too late to help in whatever way he can at Winterfell and arrives only to find desolation and a fleeing Stark or two? After all, his blade is one of the swords reforged from Ice — Widow’s Wail, to be specific. He might finally be able to use it to protect someone like Sansa.
That could certainly help him gain some trust from Jon Snow, if not necessarily Daenerys Targaryen. It could be a little melodramatic, true, but Coster-Waldau has been able to handle some dramatic battle scenes before. Jaime’s charge in “The Spoils of War” comes to mind.

Hopefully a fan or two will be able to get a better idea of what he’s doing at Moneyglass if there are multiple days of shooting. What are your theories, Game of Thrones fans?
