Hillary Clinton
What’s a list of power wives without the Pantsuit Nation’s very own Hillary Rodham Clinton? Of course you could run down a list of her accomplishments — Senator, Secretary of State, presidential candidate — but she is so much more than the sum of her parts.
As the country’s first female presidential candidate for a major party, she made history, but she also inspired a lot of women to look up from their lives and become involved. Spurred on by the opposition she faced, women across the country were motivated to coalesce into a sisterhood that has lasted long after an unfortunate election night.
She has accomplished a great many things in her life, and through it all she’s maintained that her role as a woman, daughter, mother and wife have been just as important to her. She is a role model to little girls across the country to dream of being president one day. But she is a role model to every mother out there gets up and goes to work because she wants to.
Hillary Clinton is a symbol to working women to go after what you want, despite the nonsense you’ll have to endure. She reminds us to keep fighting even though they are criticizing your hair, your voice, your makeup, your clothes, your efficiency as a woman — even when no one is doing that to your male counter parts.
She is so much more than the former first lady of the United States — she’s given women in the country something to work for. She may have put a million cracks in that glass ceiling, but it’s up to us to shatter it forever.
