Super Bowl 52 drinking game: New England Patriots vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Want to add a little fun to your Super Bowl 52? Our drinking game has rules for those rooting for both the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots.

Although there are those who actually watch Super Bowl 52 because it’s likely to be an excellent football game, or those who watch it for commercials, there are still those who enjoy neither and just want to find a way to pass the time. And then there are those who fall between the different categories. Regardless of your Super Bowl plans, a way to turn it into a game of your own is to, well, play a drinking game!

Before we get into the rules, here’s the thing: Culturess urges you to please drink responsiblyYes, it’s fun to effectively play bingo, but if you just want to drink soda, water, milk, juice or some other beverage — or not play at all — all of that is okay. That all said, let’s get into our rules.

New England Patriots:

  • Take mini sips for each of the Patriots’ Super Bowl victories under Bill Belichick and Tom Brady when they are mentioned. (That’s five, but who’s counting?)
  • Take a drink for any reference to Tom Brady’s recent hand injury or Rob Gronkowski’s concussion.
  • Take a very large drink if you can discern actual human emotion in Belichick’s expression (sort of the corollary to last year’s rules).

Philadelphia Eagles:

  • Take a drink if there’s any mention of Nick Foles’ unlikely journey to the Super Bowl and/or Carson Wentz.
  • Take another drink and cheer as loudly as you can at the mention of the infamously raucous fanbase.
  • Take a sip if it’s mentioned that the Eagles have never actually won a Super Bowl.

Both teams:

  • Take a drink when your team scores a touchdown.
  • Finish it if your team scores a safety.
  • Take a drink if your team sacks the opposing quarterback.
  • Toast the screen and take a drink if there’s a particularly inventive touchdown celebration.
  • Break out a fancy drink if your team wins the game. Break out an even fancier one if it loses instead.

Commercials:

  • From last year’s game: For every celebrity that shows up, take a large drink.
  • Take a drink if a single commercial lasts more than a minute.
  • Take a sip for every ad for This is Us, since it’s airing a postgame episode.
