Rory and Jess — Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

I know I’m going to get some hate mail about this one, but don’t @ me folks, okay? When you look at all the suitors Rory had over the years, Jess might be the more passionate, but he’s certainly not the most suitable.

Although Jess may have grown up to be a (mostly) functional adult with a real job and an actual place to live, he’s probably the least emotionally available. Jess has a lot of baggage — mom stuff, dad stuff, imposter syndrome stuff — and he doesn’t really seem like the therapy kind. This means he would inevitably take it out on Rory.

Jess is the kind who gives the silent treatment, disappears for days, or tries to be cute when you’re in a fight to avoid any sort of adult communication. You know the kind. You’ve dated them. You’ve cried over them. You’ve cursed their names to your girlfriends. And they probably drove a motorcycle.

I know this may be a very unpopular opinion, but Rory’s best bet is Logan, and always has been. Even in college he was understanding and supportive, and he wanted to marry her for goodness’ sake. I’d say he was down for the long haul in a big way. Yeah, yeah, he’s got a fiancée — or does he? We never see her, nor do we get a sense she’s a serious thing. And they didn’t give him a wife.  Hands down, being with a rich man who is sweet and loving (and maybe a tad less handsome) is far better than being a poor guy who will make you wait by the phone (but is as dreamy as they come).
