25 years later, the Sanderson sisters have not stopped seeking revenge on Matt, Allison and Dani Dennison. Soon, we’ll be able to crack open a book that probably won’t summon immortal witches, but it will tell us their story.
Hocus Pocus and the All-New Sequel by A.W. Jantha will retell the hit original story, as well as the all-new story of Matt and Allison’s daughter, Poppy.
Poppy, much like her father, is skeptical of the truth of the Sandersons’ existence. She learns, though, and has an adventure all her own.
"Shortly after moving from California to Salem, Max Dennison finds himself in hot water when he accidentally releases a coven of witches from the afterlife. Max, his sister, and his new friends (human and otherwise) must find a way to stop the witches from carrying out their evil plan and remaining on Earth to torment Salem for all eternity. Twenty-five years later, Max and Allison’s seventeen-year-old daughter, Poppy, finds herself face-to-face with the Sanderson sisters in all their sinister glory. When Halloween celebrations don’t quite go as planned, it’s a race against time as Poppy and her friends fight to save her family and all of Salem from the witches’ latest death-defying scheme. As of October, Disney was developing a TV movie sequel with an all new cast, but there’s no word if they are related projects.
The original film was written by Neil Cuthbert and Mick Garris and directed by Kenny Ortega. Garris hinted at a possible Hocus Pocus TV project in a recent interview. Fans of the 1993 cult classic reacted in a range from hesitation to excitement.
