Monstrous teenage girls fight and Scully’s son makes an appearance on “Ghouli,” the latest episode of The X-Files. Here’s how to watch.

According to the information we have, this week’s episode of The X-Files will tie into both a monster-of-the-week plot and the long-running drama of William Scully. How writer and director James Wong will connect the two will be revealed this Wednesday.

William, as you may recall, is the child of Dana Scully and (maybe) Fox Mulder. He was something of a surprise, largely because Scully presumed she was infertile (alien abductions and subsequent cancer tend to do that, apparently). Once he was born, baby William appeared to have powers, as when he repeatedly caused a mobile to rotate without touching it.

His possible alien super soldier DNA also attracted the attention of shadowy government agents and more. That’s what pushed Scully and Mulder to send him out for adoption, in the hopes that concealing his identity would protect him.

You can’t keep a hopefully good and definitely convoluted plot down, however. It looks like William will be returning this week, given that he’s listed on the cast for “Ghouli,” the fifth episode of season 11.

Now, what does this have to do with teenage girls fighting each other under the assumption that they are monsters? Also, why does Scully feel so devastated? Who has she supposedly failed? No idea. Looks like we’ll have to wait until the episode airs to find out for sure.

Here’s the synopsis for “Ghouli”, courtesy of TV Guide:

"When a pair of teenage girls attack one another, each believing the other to be a monster, Mulder and Scully find that their investigation could possibly lead back to their long-lost son, William."

Here is when and where you can watch “Ghouli”:

"Date: Wednesday, Jan. 31Start time: 8 p.m. ETEpisode: “Ghouli”TV Channel: FOXLive Stream: Stream 1 | Stream 2"

While it first sounds like a standard monster-of-the-week episode, the mention of William could change things. With the current drama over his origins and the weird, maybe-psychic connection between him and his mother, William promises to be a central figure.

Maybe we’ll catch more than a blurry glimpse of him in this week’s installment. It will certainly be interesting to see just how his story ties into an apparent monster-of-the-week episode.
