3 things we want to see happen in Mission Impossible 6: Fallout
By Buckie Wells
Epic bro (or regular ro) -mance for Henry Cavill
After Justice League, nobody’s going to forget the great Henry Cavill Mustache Debacle of 2017. In case you forgot, the reason they digitally removed his mustache in Justice League was because of contract obligations with Mission Impossible 6.
Though Superman looked silly, Mr. Cavill hopefully won’t in MI6: Fallout. And since it can be argued that Mission Impossible is a better action flick anyway, Cavill should find his redemption in this franchise. He hasn’t quite had an opportunity to reach mega-stardom outside of the DC movies (and there’s no guarantee that Mission Impossible will help), but the movie should still perform better than The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
I mean, just look at your boy up there.
However, I think the most important thing to accomplish here is giving Cavill the room to just be bros with someone. In most films he appears in, he’s in competition with the other men around him. Whether it’s Batman, Armie Hammer or even The Tudors, the game’s getting old, and unsurprisingly, Henry Cavill is a really charming man in real life and should be able to just hang around other people without having to take his shirt off or prove how much more useful he is than other team members.
Truth be told, I would like to take this idea one step farther and envision an action flick where Henry Cavill’s character is gay. I mean, again, if you saw The Man From U.N.C.L.E., you can kind of understand where I’m coming from. Because Mission Impossible doesn’t even get too much into people’s backstories anyway, there’s no reason we can’t just stick some hints in there.
Six movies in, a little LGTBQ solidarity wouldn’t hurt.
