Romantic getaways can be a perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. These quick getaways are great options for the weekend of love.

Valentine’s Day is a difficult holiday. Some people want a grand, romantic gesture. But, dinners, candy and flowers can become quite expensive. Romantic getaways can be a lovely way to heighten the romance. Finding the perfect getaway doesn’t have to be a huge production. Some cities can make even the simple moments extremely romantic.

Here are a few suggestions for a Valentine’s Day romantic getaway.

New York City

From the iconic romantic movies to the storybook romances, New York City can be the ultimate romantic getaway. Who wouldn’t want to head to the top of the Empire State Building like Meg Ryan in Sleepless in Seattle? New York City offers so many options for a romantic getaway.

While Hamilton tickets might be a budget buster, other theater tickets are a great option. The ticket window in Times Square is a great way to find discounted theater tickets. Romantics can follow a theater performance with a carriage ride.

Even a long strong through Central Park to look at the Alice In Wonderland statue can be a nice way to spend the day. Just walking around New York City can be a delightful way to spend the day. From window shopping at Tiffany & Co. to strolling through the many museums, a weekend in New York City can be perfect Valentine’s Day memory.

Chicago

The Windy City isn’t just the city of broad shoulders. Chicago is a vibrant, cultural city that can be filled with romance. Start the day at the Maggie Daley Skating Ribbon for a chance to hold each other up to keep from falling. Following the skating with a stop at the Bean, actually called Cloud Gate. The iconic Chicago sculpture is a favorite photo op.

Chicago has some of the best restaurants in the nation. While there are many celebrated chefs with restaurants, try some iconic Chicago pizza for Valentine’s Day. From Lou Malnati’s to Pequods, pizza is serious business in Chicago. While it may not be pasta from Lady and the Tramp, indulging in ooey, gooey cheese on a deep dish pizza can be a fun Valentine’s Day dinner. Nashville

Country music fans flock to Nashville for all the amazing music venues. From the Ryland to The Station Inn, Music City is known for its numerous concert venues. Even the Bluebird Café, often shown on the TV show Nashville, is a hot reservation. Romantic ballads at one of the many music venues can set the romantic tone.

Music isn’t the only reason to head to Nashville. The food scene is bustling. Creativity in the city’s kitchens is expanding. Still, the iconic Nashville hot chicken cannot be missed. This combination of perfectly fried, seriously hot chicken topped with a pickle is a must. Don’t worry — the heat is good for romance.

Miami

For many people buried in snow and cold, a beach getaway tops the romantic getaways list. Miami is a popular choice for a warm, beach getaway. Just a gaze at the Art Deco hotels in South Beach can set a relaxing, romantic tone.

Of course, the Miami beaches are a perfect romantic spot. The crystal blue water and the white sands are prettier in person than on a television screen. From sunrise to sunset or even frolicking in the water, the Miami beaches can highlight the romantic moods.

For an unusual romantic getaway, try Taos, New Mexico. Taos is known for its art community, but it’s also a great ski resort. Start a day hitting the slopes at one of the area several ski resorts. The majestic scenery offers some of the best skiing and snowboarding during the winter months.

For a little aprés-ski eating, Taos offers several wineries, breweries and amazing restaurants. With plenty of locally sourced foods, the restaurant community is bustling. Even the regional influences can be found in the food. Spices, unusual ingredients and flavor combinations will add some spice to the romantic getaway.

Lastly, the Taos art community is thriving. A walk down many of the streets shows numerous art galleries. From Native American arts to thought-provoking modern art, these artistic pieces definitely spark a response.
