How to Get Away with Murder will officially come back this week, but if you need a catch-up or a taste of what’s to come, we have you covered.

After weeks of what felt like absolutely nothing to watch on TV save holiday specials, the TV season has, all of a sudden, completely ramped up in the past few weeks. Shows like The X-Files have already had their season premieres, while The CW’s Supergirl completed its first hiatus (it’s complicated) this week, and now, we get to How to Get Away with Murder and the rest of ABC’s TGIT.

When last we left off with Annalise Keating and the rest of the cast, Simon Drake was dead, Laurel was not dead, and nor was Laurel’s baby, although we were treated to the sight of Viola Davis doing infant CPR to make sure that the latter remained true. Yes, it has been a few months since this happened. No, I am not over it. Yes, I mean “not over it” in a bad way.

Hopefully the show improves in its return, but, according to ABC’s synopsis, it sounds like we’ll still be dealing with some medical emergencies:

"As a police investigation gets underway after Simon’s accidental shooting, the “K4” deal with a new set of obstacles. Meanwhile, a distraught Annalise finds herself in an unimaginable situation as Laurel and her baby struggle to cling to life."

The photos at the above ABC link show that Laurel makes it to the hospital in this episode, bringing us pretty firmly into what was the flash-forward timeline in the first half of the season. That helps jibe with the first half of the synopsis as well, mentioning the “police investigation,” since we’ve already seen Asher arrested.

Speaking of, the arrest probably has to do with the “new obstacles.” It seems simple, but it’s fairly clear that the synopsis at least wants us to think that the two things are connected. We’re picking up what you’re putting down there, at least, How to Get Away with Murder.
