The Project Runway All Stars premiere was a little rough. The idea of rookies competing against veterans didn’t quite produce the fashion-forward designs that judges and fans were expecting.

The first takeaway for episode 2 is that the team challenge is gone. While last week’s team challenge did have some designer autonomy, the team factor did come into play. Some of the designers had to compromise on their preferred color choices to fit into the team aesthetic.
With the teams gone, the designers might be more fashion forward. This week’s theme is distressed fashion. From torches to making holes in the fabric, the designers are sort of destroying the medium while creating something beautiful.
Project Runway does a great job of highlighting fashion trends. Distressed designs are on trend. While many fans may not be able to afford the high-fashion versions of this trend, they can take tips, techniques and hacks from the show and apply them. For example, why not take those old jeans and distress them? It could give the jeans a new life, and it’s an easy way to incorporate a fashion trend.
