Start Small & Specific

Your goals should always, always start small, stay simple and be specific. Vague, lofty goals are no good, because you have absolutely no way to show you’ve done them. There’s no sense of accomplishment. Our gray matter that we call a brain loves specifics.

For example, one of my goals for this year is to save at least $100 a month.

You want to keep your list as short as possible, and make each goal as doable as possible.

Are you going to be able to do all the things you want to do at once? Probably not. Overdoing resolutions is one of the leading causes of failed goals. Is this something that you have tried for a New Year’s Resolution before? What caused you to falter in your resolve then? Make sure to be wary of that, and to work with the things that caused you to struggle before.

Having fewer goals can be a good way to get started. Choose the ones that will cause an immediate impact on your health, happiness and life, and do what you can for those.

And remember that you’ve got this! Confidence is a key component to resolutions, second only to actually doing the thing you’ve committed to. The writers at Culturess believe in you, dear reader!
