Eleven loves Eggos — Stranger Things
It might be a strange thing for a little girl with psychic powers and few interpersonal skills to be so fond of a frozen breakfast food, but here we are. One of the defining things about Eleven from Stranger Things, (besides the telekinesis, obviously) is her love for an Eggo waffle. She just can’t get enough of them.
In season 1, Mike first introduced her to the morning treat when she was hiding out in his basement, still wearing her hospital gown. He’d bring them to her, on a plate and fresh out of the toaster, down to her makeshift fort in his basement, and it was love at first bite.
Perhaps her love for the waffles is because they were her first meal with her new friends, symbolize a safe place, and represent her new life outside the lab. Maybe they just taste downright delicious. Who knows? But El is crazy for an Eggo, and the show has built several very important scenes around this fact.
There are some major moments in season 1 in which Eleven gets herself some Eggos, using her powers, and exhibiting her all around strength and power. She destroyed a supermarket in a fit of Eggo-fueled rage, finally showing us what she was capable of. This became super important later when she used her powers to save her friends, the town, and probably the entire world. Season 2 follows through on this character quirk as well, showing Hopper using the Eggos to bribe her, reward her, and as a dessert option. It’s a whole thing, and now for fans of the sci-fi series, they’ll never be able to eat Eggos again without thinking about Eleven.
