Why isn’t The Great American Baking Show on tonight, December 14?
Fans of The Great American Baking Show might be disappointed to find that it’s not airing tonight, despite promises earlier in the week that it would.
While you might have flipped over to ABC to get ready to watch what’s supposed to be tonight’s new episode of The Great American Baking Show, the show won’t actually be airing another two-hour episode tonight.
That’s because, as of late Wednesday, ABC has pulled the show entirely, according to Variety. That’s due to, well … allegations that Johnny Iuzzini has sexually harassed at least eight women, four of whom came forward just this past Tuesday. Mic broke both stories. All eight stories appear to come from Iuzzini’s time in the restaurant world, not during the production of the show, but
As a result, ABC won’t actually air the rest of this season of The Great American Baking Show at all — instead simply saying it will let us know who actually won the competition “at a later date.”
Tonight’s episode would have featured desserts and cookies, while next week’s would have been all about French baked goods and then the final challenges. Although ABC’s schedule still appears to list the show as airing tonight, and the show’s Twitter account was advertising events for “tomorrow night” as late as yesterday, things have gone eerily silent since. Host Ayesha Curry has not tweeted about it; nor has her co-host Anthony Adams, judge Paul Hollywood or even Iuzzini himself.
Indeed, the statement that Variety quotes has not appeared on ABC’s press page for the show at all — and, as previously mentioned, the episodes that were set to air still have their photos and synopses available. However, multiple other outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter and Entertainment Weekly, all citing the same statement, have picked up the story.
