Star Wars: The Last Jedi: A new pair of teasers for Tuesday
During the week that sees the last major book release ahead of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we’re getting more about new parts of the movie.
Happy release week of Star Wars: Canto Bight! The book’s out today, and check back on Culturess later in the week for a review of the anthology. But while we wait, Star Wars News Net and The Hollywood Reporter have a pair of related teasers.
First up comes SWNN, with a new look at Rose.
We know that Rose and Finn’s mission includes a trip there to pick up DJ, and, in fact, this uses part of the same shot that’s believed to be of Canto Bight that THR‘s trailer does. But more on that in a second. First, let’s take a look.
We can’t blame Kelly Marie Tran for loving basically every set she worked on. We’re pretty sure we’d be in the same position if we were ever so lucky. (It seems it really lent itself well to her character, too — we already knew that Rose was a bit of a fan of Finn’s, but the brief clip of her simply going “wow” in response to Finn saying “May the Force be with you” conveys all of that in one syllable.)
But we do see what looks like a strategy session between Finn, Poe and Rose herself, presumably to outline the plan that sends them to Canto Bight and ultimately into the heart of the First Order with DJ in tow, which THR also reminds us about. Much as we get the sense that Rose’s standard outfit will be iconic, it’s hard to deny that she looks good in her cover identity’s uniform, too.
Meanwhile, here’s THR:
While THR doesn’t specify, this is a trailer for China, which doesn’t get the movie until January (Forbes reports Disney actually wanted this date), and it actually lengthens the shot of the location by showing an additional angle.
