J.J Abrams and Quentin Tarantino plan to pair up for a new Star Trek

J.J Abrams brought the new Star Trek franchise to life for us all and now Quentin Tarantino wants to continue it. But what exactly would that entail?

At first when the news came out, I’ll admit to hating the idea of Quentin Tarantino taking on a Star Trek movie. He’s known for his blood and violence, and that doesn’t really fit into the world of Star Trek. So of course I had reservations.

But reading his vision for a movie and creating a writers’ room makes the idea a lot more appealing. Look, here’s what Star Trek: Beyond did right: it made the franchise feel like Star Trek for the first time. And from what Tarantino said, he wants to continue that feel.

What sold me on the idea of having Quentin Tarantino taking it on was simple: he wants to expand on episode ideas from the original series. What’s more Trek than the original series? Granted, it is going to be interesting to see how he shoots it, but I think that with the help of Simon Pegg and those who had a hand in Star Trek: Beyond, it could all work out.

Plus having this crew of the Enterprise together once more is really what we need right now. These movies bring us so much joy and I just think it is the right time to be making Star Trek movies. Let’s just maybe not let Tarantino do too much of the dialogue. He has quite the reputation and I don’t think Trek fans will really like that.

So will this be a disaster? Eh, I think with enough control, it could work. But maybe we make sure that Simon Pegg has a huge hand in what is happening to keep the Star Trek: Beyond feel we now love.
