Cheesy Blasters — 30 Rock
Liz Lemon isn’t known for her discerning tastes in food. She can inhale an entire hoagie in one sitting, and her commitment to pizza and cheese is unparalleled. Her concoction, cheesy blasters, is born from this commitment. Hell, she even has a song about her invention, and it’s probably the best food-related melody ever.
A cheesy blaster is a hot dog, stuffed with Jack cheese, and folded in a pizza. The magic happens in the combo of the elements, and the sum of the parts is obviously greater than it’s parts. Although, the parts of this thing sound freaking amazing on their own. I love a hot dog and a piece of pizza singularly, but you smash them together, and it’s culinary heaven, my friends.
In the mythology that is the cheesy blaster, a glorious creature named Meat Cat swoops in and brings you the delicacy, and you enjoy its splendor while you visit. In addition, you must sing the catchy jingle which is impossible to get out your head. This creates a wholly unique situation of non-distinct texture. Between the melted cheese, the crunch of the crust, and whatever a hot dog feels like, it’s pretty awesome.
I’ll admit, I tried my own variation of the cheesy blaster, and I was pleased. My only note is that it’s shape didn’t meet my expectations. I thought it would be a little more tightly rolled, but wound up looking like a leaking Hot Pocket. Try a slightly fancier version of cheesy blasters with this gussied up recipe.
