In tonight’s winter finale of Grey’s Anatomy season 14, the doctors face an unexpected cyber attack. Check out the preview for what you can expect.

Though last week’s 300th episode of Grey’s Anatomy was one of the best and emotionally charged episodes of recent memory, fans are no strangers to the action-packed finales of the past, be it winter finale or not. The last time we had a big finale, part of the hospital caught on fire and Stephanie Edwards quit her job after demonstrating an unprecedented level of bravery.

Tonight’s new episode will take a different tone, though. It will be neither nostalgic nor fiery, but instead, what showrunner Krista Vernoff likens to an “action movie.”

While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she shared:

"There’s a hacking at the hospital that is shockingly consequential. When Bill Harper pitched it in the writers’ room, my initial reaction was, ‘Isn’t the midseason finale usually a giant storm?’ and he was like, ‘It’s a giant storm, the consequences of what happens when a hospital gets hacked in this way.’ He pitched me these plot twists that were mind-blowing.”"

Of course, I had to ask how easy it would be to hack a hospital, but according to this article from WIRED, it’s a little more prevalent than you may think. Which leaves us wondering why anyone would want to hack Grey Sloan, specifically, to being with. From the preview below, the attack does seem a little personal, if not at least reminiscent of that scene in The Italian Job where Seth Green hacks the Traffic Control Center and writes, “You’ll never shut down the real Napster.”

And at the same time, this preview makes it seem a little more comical. Like, “everybody’s dying.”

And when the terminals aren’t being controlled by Skynet, there are other things you may be wondering about, like Carina and Arizona’s relationship moving forward. The last we saw, Amelia walked in on Carina and Owen making breakfast, but Vernoff also confirmed to TVLine:

"Carina’s not over Arizona. People have commitment issues in the world and Arizona happens to be one of those people. And Carina also happens to be one of those people. And there’s a lot of fun to be had looking at that down the line. But don’t think for a minute that love story is over."

Grey’s Anatomy has obviously included several bisexuals in the past, like Leah Murphy and obviously Arizona’s ex-wife, Callie Torres. “Lesbianic” Arizona, on the other hand, is like our “rare bird” and just deserves to be happy. So if Carina can be that for her and handle Sofia, I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.
