Last week’s episode brought Betty and the Black Hood closer than ever, while driving everyone else out of her life. That was small potatoes, it seems, compared to the territory war brewing between the North and South sides.  With only Jughead standing in the way of a turf war, now is not the time for the gang to start falling apart.

But we know better than that, don’t we? Chaos will soon descend upon Riverdale, driving everyone in a frenetic fury that will, inevitably, make everything far worse. Of course, Riverdale will do it with anachronistic flair and a nod to the noir, just like they always do, and I’m here for it all.

The Black Hood breathes into the phone, “I want to see the real Betty Cooper,” and frankly, so do I. In fact, it seems like season 2 is showing everybody’s true colors. Even showrunner Roberto Aguirre Sacasa teases a little mayhem, saying on Twitter, “the kids are definitely not alright.”

He further teases, “things that can’t be unseen” and “Chapter Nineteen: Death Proof” is shaping up to really deliver on all that Riverdale juiciness we’ve come to count on.
