Poldark season 3 episode 6 live stream: Watch online

If the synopsis is any indication, this may be the darkest episode of Poldark this season yet. How much should we be worried?

Poldark went a little amphibian on last week’s episode, and though it was more than fine to watch, one has to wonder if it would have been even more appropriate to air this week’s episode two days before Halloween.

Yeah, it’s that dramatic.

Seriously, this is impressive even for a British period drama.

PBS’ pressroom has the details on this week’s episode:

"Rev. Whitworth puts Morwenna through the tortures of the damned. Aunt Agatha and George cross swords in their deadliest match yet. Demelza gets an admirer who owes his life to Ross."

It’s disappointing that we’re already replaying the Captain McNeil storyline of last season, although Lieutenant Armitage — and we know it’s Lieutenant Armitage, no need to beat around the bush with it — is at least more related to the plot as a whole in that he’s also Dwight’s fellow newly-released prisoner and, as the synopsis points out, thus also has a connection to Ross. Anyways, this sentence is a sort of palate cleanser. Let’s get back to the drama.

We’ve already talked about how we’re not excited to see what happens with Whitworth and Morwenna. This synopsis does not provide anything in the way of confidence that we’re going to be wrong about that prediction. It probably has something to do with the usage of “tortures of the damned.” It’s probably a bit overwrought, but this is a show where a lot of things are overwrought. It’s why we watch, really.

And in the middle, we have George and Aunt Agatha, which … well …

It’s Aunt Agatha. We can’t bet against her, really, although “deadliest” makes us worry that we won’t have anything to bet on at all soon. The show has been casually dropping plenty of hints that Agatha’s up there in years, and she’s also said in this season that she plans to breathe her last in the same house she was born in — and that’s Trenwith.

George wouldn’t kick her out, would he?
