15 top Halloween movie crushes, past and present

2. Omri Katz — Hocus Pocus (1993)
For some fans, Hocus Pocus is the quintessential Halloween movie. It has become a staple of Freeform’s annual “13 Nights of Halloween” programming schedule, and the Sanderson sisters are a classic costume for trios.
For a movie made in 1993, Hocus Pocus has a lot of powerful women. That power comes from magic for the Sanderson sisters, but for Dani and Allison, it’s pure grit and spirit. For the most part, the latter pair carries the heroics. But we can’t forget about Max Dennison who, for teenage girls at the time, was an added bonus.
Played by Omri Katz, Max had all the looks of a hero. As it turns out though, he was even almost supposed to be played by Leonardo DiCaprio, who auditioned for the part.
Admittedly, Max has more than a few problematic moments. He is the epitome of angsty teenager, having been moved from Los Angeles to Salem. He spends huge portions of the movie crushing on Allison, and is harsh on everyone in the spirit of Halloween.
That said, he has a heart-melting side as well. Though he gives Dani a hard time about Halloween, he realizes when he’s taken things too far and immediately switches back into adorable big brother mode.
When all seems to be well, Max stays with Dani as she talks to Binx about the future, keeping an eye on things and holding Allison close.
So, even with his hostile moments, Max earns a spot on this list of top Halloween crushes past and present. And now the movie is getting a remake, thanks to Disney Channel. Maybe Max will have only gotten better, or we’ll have a new “Max” character entirely.
