Marvel’s The Punisher’s new trailer asks new questions and answers one
Marvel fans rejoice! Marvel’s Punisher finally has a premiere date! We no longer have to keep guessing. Plus, there’s a bonus new trailer.
It took all summer and half of fall, but Marvel’s Punisher finally—finally!—has its premiere date. Did I mention finally?
Okay, I digress. Then what’s the premiere date so we can get ready to binge it to our hearts’ content?
Nov. 17.
That’s right, the same day that DC’s Justice League premieres in theaters. It seems an odd choice, almost calling out DC and trying to make people stay home and watch TV instead of go to the movies. But Marvel and DC really haven’t felt competitive with each other lately (at least in an obvious sense).
With the premiere date out in the open, we also have a brand new trailer! Check it out below:
There were rumors swirling over the last few weeks on when, if at all, Punisher would see the light of day. Marvel, as Variety notes, also smartly pulled out of New York Comic Con where it was going to promote the series. In light of the mass shooting in Las Vegas, was Punisher appropriate?
And really, will a series like this ever be appropriate? An antihero character with lots of gun violence? Probably not the best for the America we have right now. We don’t know what the series will hold until it premieres, but we do have a good base for it just from the comics.
But rest assured that it will continue to be a conversation even after the series comes out.
All that heavy stuff being said, how will this series tie into the rest of the Marvel Netflix series? We have the obvious tie-back to Daredevil with Karen Page’s appearance. I still want to know how Claire Temple will show up for this one.
