The season 3 premiere of Supergirl welcomed us back from the hiatus, so what’s next? Here is how you can catch tonight’s episode.

Okay, I am on board for Supergirl season 3. Last week’s premiere, “Girl of Steel”, displayed a sense of confidence that was absent for most of season 2. Besides setting up an intriguing villain arc, it clarified Kara’s emotional state and used a bold visual style that we’re not used to seeing on a CW show.

Supergirl has always been capable of putting together strong episodes, though. It remains to be seen whether the show can execute long-term storylines.

Episode 2 sounds fun, at least — a return to blue skies after the premiere’s angst. Read the plot synopsis for “Triggers” below, courtesy of Supergirl Radio:

"YAEL GROBGLAS GUEST STARS — Psi (guest star Yael Grobglas), a thief with psychic powers, attacks National City. Able to immobilize people by tapping into their worst fears, Psi proves a formidable opponent for Supergirl. Meanwhile, James (Mehcad Brooks) and Lena (Katie McGrath) are at an impasse, and Samantha starts her new job at L-Corp."

The last time an actor from another CW show guest-starred on Supergirl, the results were rather disappointing. Hopefully, Grobglas fares better. As Jane the Virgin’s perpetually scheming Petra Solano, she isn’t exactly entering new territory by taking on a villain role. Still, she appears to be enjoying herself. More importantly, Psi’s powers are an easy vehicle through which to explore Kara’s internal conflict.

Otherwise, we’re excited to see James in a professional capacity. Even though he took over CatCo in the wake of Cat’s exit, James remained on the sidelines during season 2. We rarely saw him doing his job. His interactions with Lena should provide plenty of tension.
