On Scandal’s final season premiere, we learned that it is Olivia’s world and we just live in it. In Scandal episode 2, “Pressing the Flesh,” who will be Olivia’s puppet?
No one thought that a Mellie Grant White House would be free from drama, but who would have guess that Olivia would be the person instigating the drama.
In Scandal’s premiere episode, Olivia used her cunning to create her desired outcome. Whether that outcome is beneficial for Mellie or the Republic remains to be seen.

What can we expect from Scandal‘s next episode? Check the TV Guide synopsis for “Pressing the Flesh.”
"Mellie hosts a state dinner for President Rashad in a step toward peace in the Middle East, and Olivia secretly puts Jake to work so that they have a backup plan. Meanwhile, Quinn’s team attend the part in an attempt to gain more high-profile clientele."
Olivia and Jake’s relationship seems to be purely professional now. After Olivia dismissed Jake from her bed in the first episode, Olivia doesn’t want anyone to manipulate her. We all know that Jake can be a ruthless mercenary, but does Olivia have that killer instinct? Yes, she killed Vargas, the Vice President, but she refused to kill the captured American spy. Will Olivia’s back-up plan have too much talk versus action?

As for Quinn and the other Gladiators, this storyline definitely needs some help. If this group is supposed to be the new “fixers” in Washington DC, they need to actually fix something. Last week’s captured spy was fixed by Olivia. Granted, Quinn shared the information with Olivia, but QPA didn’t really do anything. Being close to the White House doesn’t exude authority.
Lastly, Mellie isn’t portraying a strong, female Presidential character. Her big decision to kill the American spy was undercut by Olivia. Mellie doesn’t see that she is being manipulated my Olivia. Of course, Mellie wants her place in history. But, is she just a puppet for Olivia’s agenda?
