Star Wars: The Last Jedi: 3 things we want from the new trailer

All signs point to a new Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer on the horizon. Here are three things that we want to see in the next teaser.

The current wisdom in the Star Wars world is that the next trailer for The Last Jedi comes out tomorrow, Monday, Oct. 9. Additionally, Lucasfilm itself confirmed that that’s the plan via the Star Wars official Twitter account this morning.

Now, that means that we’re just about a day away from more official information and more sweet footage. That doesn’t mean we can’t have a few wishes for that trailer, though.

More Leia

Luke’s voiceover anchors the first trailer. It’s only fair that his sister gets to anchor the second trailer. We only see her back in that first trailer. For her to actually get to talk this time around and establish the stakes on the Resistance side of things, as Luke establishes the stakes for the Jedi and the Force in the first trailer.

Frankly, it would be amazing … and it would gear us up for what is, as far as we know, still Carrie Fisher’s final appearance as General Leia Organa.

Even if it would also be really sad.

Canto Bight

With the franchise’s official website flat-out confirming the presence of Canto Bight in The Last Jedi in its preview of the story collection of the same name, it would be nice to actually see the place in motion and get a little tease of what will take place in the city.

The Databank’s image is fairly suggestive, but it’s almost certainly going to be cooler to see this city in motion, and it would match the first trailer showing the new location of Crait off as well. Even if it’s just a brief, action-type shot in the vein of the ships flying over Crait, it’d be great to get a better look at what kind of seems to be the Star Wars‘ universe’s answer to some cities famous for gambling.

Here’s hoping we get the impression there’s a “fortune won and lost on every deal,” to quote the King of Rock and Roll.

Poe and Finn

The first trailer primarily features Rey, but Finn and Poe both got brief appearances as well. Is it so much to ask to see more of what they’ll be up to in The Last Jedi? We’re sure the trailer will still have Rey in it — and it’d be great to see more of her journey to become a Jedi — but it’d also be lovely if the trailer has more than Finn in recovery and Poe running behind BB-8.

A little fancy flying from Poe won’t go amiss, and nor will some of Finn’s ongoing adventures. Let us see Oscar Isaac and John Boyega, Lucasfilm. We promise we won’t be mad about it. They are the other two main characters of this trilogy, after all.

Hey, this might even lead to us seeing BB-9E, the First Order’s answer to our little orange and white ball droid. We won’t say no to that, either.

Next: Where exactly is Ahch-To?

If there’s a new trailer tomorrow, what do you want to see, Star Wars fans?
