When it comes to opinions none of us want to hear, James Cameron’s continual bashing of Wonder Woman is pretty high on the list.
When will James Cameron stop trying to drag Wonder Woman? Will it ever end? In recent news, the Titanic director decided to say that the film wasn’t boundary pushing because Gal Gadot’s Diana was visually stunning.
No really, let that sit in for a second. Apparently, women cannot be beautiful and strong. We can’t be appealing to the gender of our choosing and also defend the world. It is like James Cameron suddenly forgot that Chris Evans casually ripped a log in half in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Or, better yet, that he continually has hot people saving the world in his Terminator movies. But since it is a woman leading the way, she shouldn’t be beautiful, because that somehow means she’s weak.
Honestly, it is just fascinating that he continues to speak out against Wonder Woman as the movie continues to break records. Why? It really is a reflection on Cameron rather than the film. He only seems to talk about it when there is a new article about how the movie is on track to beat some other record (or when people ask him about the original comments, as the Independent notes this all started with The Hollywood Reporter). Then he suddenly finds his voice.
It is also fun that the original Diana Prince herself had a say in the matter.
Has Cameron really been doing much to further the image of ‘great female characters’ lately? It’s funny, at least to me, that he says that Sarah Connor (a great character) is not a desirable woman. Especially because a main point of her storyline is that she sleeps with Kyle and gets pregnant with John.
Next: Blade Runner 2049 is long, but it's worth it
Whatever his deal is with Wonder Woman, I, like Lynda Carter, wish he would just stop. Honestly, there’s enough comments (or reviews) out there about Wonder Woman being unnecessary. We don’t need yours too, James Cameron.
