Blade Runner 2049 may be long, but it is worth the three hours

You don’t want to miss Blade Runner 2049, but it is a movie you just have to go and see. Just trust us, it is amazing and you don’t want to get spoiled.

Denis Villeneuve had a message for us before we saw Blade Runner 2049. It asked that we, as reviewers, try and refrain from revealing certain spoilers. And I want to respect that wish because he wanted us to maintain the magic for viewers to experience this film as we did.

You all should, too. The movie isn’t one that you can really talk about without knowing the plot so I’m going to explain one little moment that was wonderful (and is not a spoiler) and then say a few things I wish were different.

One for my baby

First, there was a Frank Sinatra cameo that left me in tears. Now this is very specific to me and may not have the same emotional impact on someone else but still, it was truly a high point of the movie.

Officer K (Ryan Gosling) touches something and it brings up a hologram of Frank. He is singing and it just happened to be my favorite Frank Sinatra song. So I cried a little and was moved by the fact that most of these people were trying to experience the joy that something so little, like the music we take for granted, can give.

Other than that, everything else I loved about this movie is filled with spoilers. So once people have had the chance to talk about it, I’d love to go more in depth. Until then, I’ll say this: Every twist and turn is worth it.

The movie is definitely too long though and there is one weird scene that I don’t think we necessarily needed. (Or it could have been done in a different way to get the same message across.) Other than that, this is the sequel we’ve been dying for.

Next: Blade Runner might bring back Sean Young and honestly why?

Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters on Oct. 6 and this is one you don’t want spoiled for you.
