Who is hosting Emmys 2018?

There are a few very good options for the 2018 Emmys host, although we likely won’t know who has the job until next year sometime.

Stephen Colbert officially received the 2017 Emmys gig in January of this year, and, as we talked about when we discussed when next year’s awards will likely be shown, we’ll probably know who has the job. But, in that same article, I pointed out it’s likely NBC’s turn again, citing its last Emmys page.

Just by dint of being a late-night show host (and because he did it back in 2014, so it would not be his first rodeo, metaphorically speaking), it seems like Seth Meyers is practically a lock for the job. He’s worked on Saturday Night Live, too, meaning he’s used to unexpected things happening and can probably set things back to rights. Frankly, he’d be the safe choice for NBC, assuming again that NBC is going to get the airing once more.

But why can’t NBC go a little not-safe for once when it comes to an awards show host, and skip over Meyers and the other presumed front runner, Jimmy Fallon? If an SNL alum or current cast member is all that NBC really wants, why not have Leslie Jones or Kate McKinnon host for once? They’d be just as topical and funny as Meyers or Fallon, if not more so, and it would break up the monotony somewhat, since Jimmy Kimmel had the gig last year (and even “helped” Colbert, as reported by Deadline).

It could be a nice way to inject some fun into the proceedings and save us from having to watch yet another guy in a tuxedo for yet another awards show.

Keep an eye on NBC. The network may just decide to shake things up, and for the Emmys … it would be pretty nice, don’t you think?
